Scale is worth noting if you haven't been in a while. In 2026, the Downtown Downers Grove Market is hosting more than 60 vendors, including prepared food and beverage, floral, crafts, produce, home goods, and others. The team behind The Foxtail and Cadence Kitchen is bringing a new restaurant and entertainment venue to Downtown Downers Grove, blending dining and fun in a vibrant two-story 20,312 sq ft with an outdoor patio and fire pit. The concept is split by floor:
- First floor: Dining area that opens directly onto the patio.
- Second floor: Entertainment-focused golf bays with billiards, darts, and games.
The exterior design isn't the usual downtown brick, either. The exterior features wood timbers and stone accents, reflecting a California mountain vernacular.
Fonda de Paula. Traditional Mexican, and the pitch is specific. Fonda de Paula aims to bring the authentic Mexican fonda experience to Downtown Downers Grove, with fondas being intimate, family-owned restaurants serving meals crafted with heart. The menu is all-day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes such as chilaquiles, rajas and queso omelets, pescado Veracruz, carne asada, tacos, enchiladas, and burrito bowls. Downers Grove already has Los Dos on Main and Outpost on Maple, so this gives the downtown a third distinct Mexican format inside a short walk.
Where Locals Still Land
While the new places finish out, the existing downtown roster is what's carrying weekends this summer. A shortlist worth keeping straight:
